Karel De BoeckMr. Karel De Boeck is an Independent Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Bank, holding the position of Vice Chairman. He holds Masters Degrees in Economics and Mechanical/Civil Electronic Engineering from the Catholic University of Louvain.
He held top executive positions for more than 20 years namely, as Director of Marketing for the commercial network of Generale de Banque and as Chairman of the Management Committee at ASLK-CGER Bank. Following the purchase of Generale de Banque by Fortis he was appointed Member of the Management Board of Fortis Bank and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Fortis Group successively. He also held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Holdings, the position of Vice Chairman of the Managing Board of ABN-AMRO Holding (2007-2008), while from 2012 until May 2016 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Dexia.
From 1999 until 2002, Mr. Karel De Boeck was Chairman of the Belgian Banking Association (now Febelfin) and from 2003 until 2006 he was Chairman of the European Federation of Management and Financial Marketing (EFMA).
